OUR SUGGESTION : Why not visit thermal springs during your stay in Auvergne? And yes: if Vichy naturally sparkling water is appearing on the tables of several dozen countries, it is not for nothing. Nine in number, the springs are reserved for cures during the winter season, open to the public all summer. Blood circulation, muscle recovery, digestion: each has its own virtue! The beneficial flow of these warm waters has influenced tourism and town planning in this city. If you are looking for what to do in Auvergne, go for a walk along the springs trail. Remember to bring your flask to taste a little of this tasty beverage offered by the bowels of the Earth.

The Mont Blanc

THE MONT BLANC

Lyon is the "Capitale"

History : before the arrival of the Romans, no less than 8 Gallic peoples shared the territory of the future Rhône-Alpes region: the Helvians on the southern side, the Allobroges of Vienna, the Ceutrons in Tarentaise, the Médulles in Maurienne, the Ambarres in the 'Ain, the Ségusiaves around Lyon and Roanne and, to a more limited extent, the Cavares and the Voconces settled mainly in the south of the region. Until Philip the Fair (early 14th century), the Rhône served as a boundary between the Kingdom of France and the Holy Roman Empire.

THE FAMOUS "MONT BLANC" is here : Mont Blanc is the highest mountain in the Alps and Western Europe, and the highest mountain in Europe outside the Caucasus mountains, rising 4,805.59 m (15,766 ft)[3] above sea level, located on the French-Italian border.[4] It is the second-most prominent mountain in Europe, after Mount Elbrus, and it is the eleventh most prominent mountain summit in the world.[5] It gives its name to the Mont Blanc massif, which straddles parts of France, Italy and Switzerland. Mont Blanc's summit lies on the watershed line between the valleys of Ferret and Veny in Italy, and the valleys of Montjoie, and Arve in France. Ownership of the summit area has long been disputed between France and Italy. The Mont Blanc massif is popular for outdoor activities like hiking, climbing, trail running and winter sports like skiing, and snowboarding. The most popular climbing route to the summit of Mont Blanc is the Goûter Route, which typically takes two days.
