he “Cosmetic Valley” One of the most important cities in the Centre-Val de Loire region is Orléans, capital of Loiret. The Orléans-Chartres axis is called the Cosmetic Valley because of the density of industries of this type. This term comes from an association created in Eure-et-Loir in 1994 and was recognized as a “competitiveness cluster” in 2005. This zone has been extended to Eure and Yvelines. It includes companies like Shiseido (in Gien since 1991), Hermès, Gemey, Guerlain (in Chartres) and Dior (in Saint-Jean-de-Braye in the Loiret). In 2005, it employed nearly 16,000 people with a turnover of nearly 2.5 billion euros. "Where is it?"
