CASTELS AND CASTELS

Discover Sologne and the castles of Loir-et-Cher: circuit of approximately 50 km, departing from Blois.

TOURIST CIRCUIT

Architecture enthusiasts cannot miss the guided tour of the Château de Chambord. Cheverny Castle was made famous by Hergé in “The Adventures of Tintin”: it is Captain Haddock's castle! The city of Blois and its royal castle are a must for those nostalgic for the history of France: historians meet there every year for the "Rendez-vous de l'Histoire". Architecture enthusiasts cannot miss the guided tour of the Château de Chambord. .

Chenonceau Castle is one of the Loire castles located in Touraine, in the town of Chenonceaux, in the department of Indre-et-Loire in the Centre-Val de Loire region. The fame and success of the Château des Dames, Chenonceau, continues to grow from year to year: the history, the architecture and the very particular atmosphere of the park and its gardens certainly have something to do with it!

RIVER "LA LOIRE"

THE LONGEST FRENCH RIVER

The Loire has its source at an altitude of 1,315 m, in the Massif central at Mont Gerbier-de-Jonc, (in Ardèche ) . It initially flows northwest, following the natural slopes of the sedimentary lands of the Paris Basin . A non-consensual hypothesis suggests that at one time this upstream part of the Loire joined the Seine, through the current valley modestly occupied by the Loing. The Loire abruptly changes direction around Orléans , it then flows westwards. This part of the Loire corresponds to a watercourse, opening into the Atlantic (Faluns Sea). This river, which was very actively digging its bed, managed to capture the upper part of the Loire. The Loire then flows into the Atlantic Ocean through an estuary which begins shortly after Nantes .

THE CRUISE ON THE LOIRE

Embark on a cruise on the Loire, the river of the kings of France whose beauty of landscapes is legendary. Visit Nantes and its Machines de l'Île, a workshop that recreates the imaginary world of the famous writer Jules Verne. Discover Saint-Nazaire and admire its shipyard as well as the Escal'Atlantic which will immerse you in the world of liners between gigantic construction and life on board. Soak up the magic of the Loire castles as well as Brissac, the highest castle in France which raises its monumental facades from its large landscaped park.

    OUR FAVORITE

  • About fifteen kilometers from the city of Tours, you discover the gardens of Villandry: this will be one of the most beautiful moments of your trip. The castle can also be visited. We think it would be a shame to deprive yourself of such a visit, which gives the opportunity to better understand the history of the castle and its gardens. On the other hand, the difference in price between the "simple visit" of the gardens and the one which allows access to the castle is not very great!
